Introduction.

Once, in September 2001, my friend Svetlana Petrukhova, proposed to meat with one man from France, which is going to organize the trip on Russian motorcycle from Moscow to Paris.

That was rather crazy proposal and I agreed to meat with that person. I just come back from the rafting trip from Murmansk region (near the Finland and Barents Sea) and I though that there are no limits for me.

First, Xavier Pardessus (this is the name of that French man) proposed to join him till the Finland but later he proposed to join the crew till the final point – the Paris.

I must said, that before this trip I do not deal with motorcycles and do not have any knowledge about how to repair them.

Of cause, I drove some motels sometimes, but not usually. But I have good experience with Russian cars (driving & repair) and this helps me a lot. Xavier where much more educated in motorcycles but he didn’t worked with Russian cars or other devices before.

Xavier just arived to the Moscow. At the airport.

At the first moment I spend just the 1/3 of the day for our trip preparation but later I forgot about any other tasks and completely busy oneself with our trip preparation.

It is possible to write a separate story about all things that we have done to prepare the trip. From the right Ural motorcycle finding and special list creating of tools and details to be taken till the Shengen visa getting and document preparation. We introduced with very nice people, which help us to find, select and prepared our Ural motorcycle for such trip, recommend which spare parts to find, how to prepare the documents, etc.

Xavier spend about 1,5 month from he arrive in Moscow till the day we start the trip. I spend about 3 weeks.

So, one day we where ready to start. In fact, we where not ready (as I think), but Xavier visa was near to finish and we have to start the trip.
